Rachel Helen Matthew Zimmerman, age 96, died on July 30th, 2025. She was born March 1, 1929, in Anderson, Indiana, to Mark and Mary Matthew. She graduated from Hanover College, where she met her husband James R. Zimmerman. She also took graduate classes at New Mexico State University and taught in elementary school in public schools in Las Cruces, NM. She is survived by her children, Ross (Pam Golden) of Tucson, Mary of Minneapolis, and Andrew (Susan Maclean) of Pueblo, Colorado. Surviving grandchildren are Ben (Becky Wildner), Ian (Kelly O’Brien), Rachel (Joao Carvalho), and Mary. Great grandchildren are Matthew, Colin, Nikole, and Finn. Other survivors are daughter-in-law Emily Nottingham, brother John Matthew of Boise, Idaho, and sister Julia Sloan of Delavan Lake, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her oldest grandson Gabriel Matthew Zimmerman, brother Neil Matthew, and daughter-in-law Linda Zimmerman.

She has requested that no services be held.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, and teacher.
