Marcus Lawrence Harper

A celebration of life for Marcus Lawrence Harper, 52, of Columbia, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Harvest Church, 5865 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his life.

Marcus Harper died Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born in Columbia on September 14, 1972, he was the son of the late Steve Harper and Faye Harper.

Marcus lived life with adventure, laughter, and an unwavering love for his family. He had a deep love for motorcycles and a passion for restoring anything with wheels and an engine. If it could roar back to life, Marcus was the man to make it happen. We will forever remember the weekends at the race track, the laughter and memories shared during beach trips to Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, and how much he loved the coast. It was no surprise to anyone that, in the end, he found his way back to the beach he loved so much.

Marcus is survived by his children: Joshua Harper, Jeremy Harper (Kayla), Taylor Harper, and Fox Harper. He was a proud “Pops” to seven grandchildren—Aria, Briana, Kayson, London, Dahlia, Kynlee, and the late Monte Harper—each of whom brought him endless joy.

He is also survived by his brothers, Wes Harper and Collins Harper; and sisters, Dee Ann Harper and Katie Harper.

In addition to his parents, Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and John Brazell (“Nanny & John”), who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
