Sarah Jean Dickinson (1943 to 2025)

Sarah Jean Dickinson, 81, of Ocala, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on October 8, 1943, in Lepanto, Arkansas, Jean was the daughter of A. Manuel Chaney and Telitha Alabama Vess. She grew up in a large, loving family with eleven brothers and sisters. From a young age she was known for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel at home in her presence.

Jean attended the University of Florida where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, admired for her diligence, intelligence, and integrity. She was also a devoted member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and an active part of her church community where her warmth and welcoming nature touched many lives.

In 1986, Jean met David Dickinson at church, and from that day forward they shared 39 wonderful years together. Their love was deep, steady, and full of laughter, a true partnership built on faith and devotion. Family was at the very heart of Jean’s life. She was a proud mother to her son Dale and a loving stepmother to Michelle and Angie. She cherished her grandchildren Britney and Taylor, always encouraging them, celebrating their accomplishments, and being a constant source of love and support. Nothing brought her more joy than being “Grandma” to her great-grandchildren Audrey and Addison, and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a great-grandson later this year. Her family was her whole world, and she never missed an opportunity to remind them how much they were loved.

Jean’s life was an example of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love. She was the kindest person you could ever meet, always ready with a smile, a listening ear, or a gentle word of encouragement. She made those around her feel valued and cared for, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband David Dickinson, her son Dale, her stepdaughters Michelle and Angie, her grandchildren Britney and husband Michael, and Taylor and husband Chris, and her great-grandchildren Audrey, Addison, and a great-grandson soon to arrive. She was preceded in death by her parents A. Manuel Chaney and Telitha Alabama Vess, as well as nine brothers and sisters.
