Daniel Elmer Griffin passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at home with family members present, after a long battle with cancer.

 

Born on October 9, 1941, in Colorado Springs, CO, Dan was the son of Elmer W. and Ardella Blanche Casteel Griffin. Dan was the oldest of his three siblings, Marguerite (Mar) Porter, Marilyn Vincent, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2025, and David J. Griffin of Castle Rock.

 

Dan graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1959. He served in the United States Navy for several years. Dan worked for telecommunications most of his life, starting with Mountain Bell and ending with TriCom. He loved the farm and ranch life with his relatives on the Easter plains of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.

 

He was a fisherman and a hunter and a fisherman from a very young life.

 

He volunteered the last years of his life in Karval, CO, helping with the Care and Share Pantry.

 

Dan is survived by his two sons, Darin D. Griffin and Dean E. Griffin, his grandson Gabriel Griffin of Montana, his partner Evy Cunning, and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
