Mary Elizabeth Rayon

Mary Elizabeth Rayon, 80 years young, of Tacoma, WA, but lifelong resident of Longview, WA passed away on August 3rd, 2025. Mary was born May 1st, 1945 to Frank L'Amie and Dorothy Straker in Seattle, Washington. She was the third child (one brother and one sister; however, the sister passed at 5 months old prior to Mary’s birth, followed by another brother and sister.

She attended St. Rose Catholic School and onto graduate RALong High School in 1963. She married Bill Rayon and they had 2 children, Gerry and Sue. She completely her Associate of Arts and Applied Science degree at Lower Columbia College in 1984. She then went on to be a costume designer for Lower Columbia College Drama performances as well as an interior designer/decorator with JCPenney, Interior Design by JanMarie and Fred's Tile and More, both careers for over 20+ years.

She and Bill parted ways and she returned to playing tennis and began taking ballroom dance lessons where she met Ken Guinn. They later married in 2011 and enjoyed retirement while traveling and ball room dancing and relaxing until his passing in 2022. She continued on to paint landscapes and flowers as well as make custom wreathes for all occasions until her health declined and she passed August 3, 2025.  

She was preceded by her husband (Ken Guinn), parents (Frank and Dorothy L'Amie), older sister (Martha Ann), younger sister and brother-in-law (Nanette and Paul Bupp) and younger brother (Bill L'Amie).

She is survived by her son and daughter in law (Gerry and Kimberly Rayon), daughter (Sue Rayon), grandchildren (William Rayon and Annabelle Rayon), older brother and sister-in-law (Frank and Karen L'Amie), sister-in-law and widow of younger brother (Patty L'Amie) as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.  

Mary's Service will be on August 23, 2025 at 11am at Valley Christian Fellowship located at 2911 Pacific Way, Longview, WA 98632 with gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
