Leo Alexander Whitfield
June 1st, 2020 - August 12th, 2025
With heavy aching hearts, we share the passing of our beloved son Leo Alexander Whitfield into the realm of the heavens and the arms of his creator
Leo showed up for life everyday.
He loved so many things, Jumping, running, screaming, laughing. From birth Leo had a unique passion for life. He woke up before the sun every morning, ready to play from the moment his eyes opened. He never let his illness hold him back. Despite having a brain tumor at birth he learned to crawl, walk, talk, sign, jump and most of all LOVE. He regularly admired his own lovely reflection, and had a hilarious appreciation for his shadow. We often had to walk whichever way he could see his shadow best.
Leo had the most gorgeous sparkling blue green eyes, and mischievous dimples that resided in soft chubby perfect cheeks. His face was truly a masterpiece to behold.
Leo was so deeply loved and admired.
He loved to cuddle and was born knowing how to love and convey that love with his touch. He was always most content holding a hand or with his people very close by. He loved to have his family all in the same room, and would grab everyone by the hand to guide them into his chosen space. He loved to wave and say hi to new people. He loved his doctors and nurses even right after something hard or ouchie. He faced many challenges, always with the bravery and determination of a gladiator. He loved harder in his 5 years than most people do in a lifetime
We are extremely grateful to have had the honor of being his parents. He loved his sister and was always the most interested in what she was playing with and always had to be in the mix of what she was doing. He was always impatient for her to wake up in the morning. He and his mommy are inseparable and will always be. His daddy is so very proud of the most perfect little boy we ever could have wished for.
Leo was survived by his Parents Peter and Megan Whitfield, and his sister Skyler Whitfield. He will also be forever remembered by his Grandfather John Whitfield, Grandmother Pauline Whitfield.
Grandfather Stephen Postema. Grandmother Benita Postema, as well as Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to a memorial garden Pete and Meg would like to plant in memory of Leo. You can do so by Venmo with this link @Peter-Whitfield-1. Please write “Leo’s memorial garden” in the memo line. We will share pictures of its progress over time.
If your heart feels it’s called instead to donate to childhood cancer research or help other families with a child battling cancer, please consider donating to the Morgan Adams Foundation https://morganadamsfoundation.org/leo-whitfield/
If so inspired by Leo’s love for others please continue Leo’s legacy of love by preforming acts of kindness for 5 people, to honor Leo’s 5 years of life.
Leo = Love Forever
Details of a memorial service / celebration of life will be released by the parents at a later date.
