Nila Fern Brand

Nila Fern Brand, 80, of Littleton, Colorado, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. 

Nila was born in Columbus, Nebraska to Otto and Alva Lutjelusche on June 18, 1945. She was active in 4-H throughout her childhood, was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and graduated from Columbus High School.  Nila married Richard Brand in 1971 and lived in Omaha, Nebraska. They had one daughter, Rena. Nila served meals in cafeterias for many years at Northern Natural Gas and Creighton University. Nila and Richard retired in 2002 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After her husband passed in 2022, Nila moved to Littleton, Colorado to be near her daughter.

Nila shared her love of 4-H with her young daughter, and lovingly attended her dance and gymnastics events. She enjoyed sewing and baking. She volunteered at food banks and sewed costumes for a local theater in Las Vegas. She won several Wii bowling tournaments at her neighborhood community center. She enjoyed making pies for her neighbors and friends.

Nila is survived by her only daughter Rena (Danial) Griggs, siblings Vera (Gayle) Cromwell, Reuben (Jackie) Lutjelusche, and Karen Carey, step grandchildren Lauren and Ethan Griggs, and 6 nieces and nephews. Nila is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.

Nila’s family will celebrate her life privately and she will always be in our hearts.  Her family would like to give special thanks to her Bloom hospice team and all the caregivers from Stone Creek Assisted Living that provided loving care for her while she was in Littleton.
