James Robert Darnell, lovingly known as Jim, was born on March 5, 1949, in Michigan to Robert Bennett Darnell and Sophie Bobon. He was the firstborn in his family and grew up with a deep sense of determination, family values, and a strong work ethic that carried him throughout his life.  

Jim received his education in Adrian, Michigan, graduating from Adrian High School and later earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena Heights University. His education gave him the foundation for a life of dedication, perseverance, and purpose.  

He went on to pursue a career as a professional truck driver, a profession he worked in with pride and commitment for many years. Known for his reliability and hard work, Jim built a respected reputation among his colleagues and those who knew him well. Outside of his career, Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a passion for fishing, football, and baseball, and he especially treasured spending time with his family. Whether cheering for his favorite teams, the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers, cooking, enjoying the outdoors, or gathering with loved ones, Jim’s presence always brought warmth and love.  

Jim’s greatest source of pride was his family. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Gass and Stacy Darnell, as well as Kelly Darnell and Kerry Patton. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Robert Gass and Thomas Gass, who were a source of endless joy and light in his life.  Jim will be remembered for his kind spirit, dedication to his family, and the many lives he touched along his journey. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.  

A life well-lived, a man deeply loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
