William Roy Irmer
November 2nd, 1959 - August 13th, 2025
William Roy Irmer, 65, a long-time Amador County resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William was called by his heavenly Father to put down his labors and rest after a life dedicated to his family and friends.
The second youngest of four children, he was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1959 to Robert Richard Irmer and Ellen Mae Burney. Raised in San Jose, CA, William moved with his father and siblings to Amador County in the 1970s. William and his two brothers learned the skill of machining from their father. Until his untimely passing, William owned and operated a successful and well-regarded machine shop in Ione, CA.
A steadfast family man, he married his beloved wife Maria Eileen Thomas in 1983 in Jackson, CA. They were married for over 41 years and have three children. William was an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and water sports. He was also a second-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and a passionate teacher and practitioner of martial arts for many years, as well as serving his community as a youth baseball coach. More than anything, what brought him the greatest joy was spending time with and supporting those he held dearest, his family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his mother, Ellen. He is survived by his wife, Maria; his stepmother, Elmagene Irmer; his sister, Linda Hansen; his brothers, Richard Irmer and Robert Irmer; his daughters, Laura Irmer and Kristen Hiehle; and his son, Brian Irmer. He is also survived by six grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
