Maria Teresa Torres, 75, of Davenport, FL, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 28, 1949, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, to Felix Rodriguez and Natalia Santiago. Maria relocated to Davenport, FL, two and a half years ago from the Bronx, NY. She worked as a school bus driver for 8 years before retiring in 1994, but her greatest role in life was that of a devoted homemaker. She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in the Bronx, NY.

Maria had a love for life that was reflected in everything she did. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and raising money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital and Nursing Homes. She cherished spending time with her family, whether at the beach, at church, enjoying BBQs, or vacationing together at resorts. She had an outgoing and down-to-earth personality, full of laughter and warmth. Toward the end of her life, she was outspoken and very emotional, yet always remained a spunky, caring, giving, and understanding woman who placed her family at the center of her world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Natalia. Maria leaves behind her daughter, AnnMarie Torres of Davenport, FL; her son, Michael Anthony Torres of Davenport, FL; her sister, Felicita Rodriguez; six grandchildren, Loreal Marie Lopez, Mark Anthony Lopez, Ashley Marie Lopez, Michael Anthony Torres Jr., Giovanna Natalia Torres, and Emma Torres , Jayson De Los Santos; three great-grandchildren, Armani Gionni Lopez, Levi Mason Estupinan, and Liliana Marie Estupinan; nieces and nephews, Marlene Cruz, Martin Cruz Jr., Luis Badillo, and Felicia Badillo. She will also be lovingly remembered by her beloved fur babies—two in heaven, Lola and Lucy, and those she leaves behind, Zeus, Lexi, Buddha, and Toby.

The family will be sending Maria back home to New York for services. Information regarding her services will be shared at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
