Pierre L. Poirier
May 12th, 1951 - August 18th, 2025
Pierre L. Poirier, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on August 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, NB, Canada, Pierre was the third eldest child to Rene and Andrea (Melanson) Poirier. During his working career, he was employed at the former Stanadyne for over 20 years as a quality engineer and eventually retired from Deringer Ney. In his leisure time, Pierre enjoyed gardening, cooking, and local travel. He loved to entertain family and friends and was most famous for his “Bug Bashes” (lobster parties). He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Donna M. (Charron) Poirier along with his beloved siblings, Robert (Cindy) Poirier of Westfield, Louis (Jane) Poirier of Feeding Hills, John (Jennifer) Poirier of Hoboken, GA, Suzanne (Dale) Hancock of Ludlow, and Annette (James) Bishop of Enfield, CT along with sister-in-law, Carol Poirier of Frederick, MD, brother-in-laws, Earl Wheeler of Agawam, Randy Hawk of Belchertown and many nephews and nieces. Pierre was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, P. Michael Poirier, and Francine Hawk. A special thank you to the team at Sister Caritas Cancer Center, especially Jessica and Rachel, as well as Dana Farber and Baystate Hospice. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 9am-11am at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a service beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Donations in Pierre’s memory may be made to the Gift of Light Program-Patient Services Fund at Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
