Elizabeth Jane (Strong) Pratt

Elizabeth Jane Strong, 93, of Penrose, Colorado, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Colorado Springs.

She was born on December 6, 1931, in Nebraska, where she grew up on a homestead farm with her brother James. Life was simple but full of hard work, caring for the family’s horses and mule, and helping with daily chores.

Elizabeth married Dallas Pratt, and together they began their life in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. During Dallas’s Army service, the family lived in many places before settling in Colorado Springs. Later, they retired to a farm near Fountain, where they spent over 20 years, and in 1984, moved to Penrose, where Elizabeth lived the rest of her life.

A lifelong member of the Baptist church, Elizabeth’s strong faith guided her always. She remained independent into her nineties and found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren, who deeply mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas; son, Harlan; and several beloved family members.

She is survived by her children, Stephen, Glenda, Marvin, and Kathleen; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
