Patricia was born September 14, 1935 in Los Angeles, California to the late Theodore R. Gorton and Helen Eleske Gorton.  Her father worked for Lockheed Aircraft and was later transferred to Marietta, Georgia.  Patricia worked for the Bank of Smyrna until 1959 when she married her husband, William Martin, whom was in the United States Air Force.

They were stationed in Columbus, Mississippi, where their two sons were born, William, Jr. and James Daniel.  The family traveled all over the world, living in France, Spain, and Turkey; while visiting many other countries while overseas.  In 1973 Mr. Martin retired from his Air Force career in Warner Robins, Georgia and began his pastoral ministry.  Patricia was a steadfast supporter of her husband's ministry wherever they lived.  She began to work at Mercer University in 1979 as an Administrative Secretary for  the Liberal Arts program, continuing for nine years.  She then transitioned to the Walter F. George School of Law and retired after ten years in 1998.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Rev. Bill Martin, son, James D. Martin (Barbara), daughter-in-law, Meridith Martin, grandchildren: Marshall Miller, Ashley Heckman, Cameron Starnes, great grandchildren: Hudson Heckman, Sullivan Heckman, Beau Heckman, Kurtis Miller, Wyatt Starnes and Zane Starnes; brother, Daniel E. Gorton (Gwen).  Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, William T. Martin, Jr.
