In Loving Memory

Today, we gather with heavy hearts to honor and remember a truly special soul — our beloved Carmelo Moreno, a loving son, brother, uncle, and proud Dallas Cowboys fan. Born on October 21, 1969, in Roswell, New Mexico, Carmelo later became a long-time resident of Salinas, California, where he lived for over 40 years and built strong connections with his family, friends, and community. Carmelo passed away on August 15, 2025, in Alameda, California, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

From a young age, Carmelo faced life with remarkable courage. Even after suffering a life-changing accident in his youth, he continued to live with strength, grace, and a deep love for those around him. His resilience inspired everyone who knew him. Carmelo was a light in our lives — always kind, always loving, always present. He brought joy through his laughter, loyalty, and unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carmelo Moreno, his brother Leo Moreno, and his stepfather, Juan Contreras. He is survived by his mother, Rebbeca Martinez, his brother, Javier Moreno, his daughter, Lisa, his granddaughters, Antoinette and Nilani, and several nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Healey Mortuary Chapel, 405 N Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA 93905. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Healey Mortuary Chapel, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 850 Abbott St, Salinas, CA 93901.

We will miss him every day, but his legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in all of us, forever in our hearts and prayers.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
