Nannie Lou (Rose) Matthews, 89, passed away on August 23, 2025, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
She was born May 19, 1936, in Anawalt, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George Rose, Jr. and Sophia (Mikels) Rose.
Nannie was married 53 years to her husband, William Howard Matthews, before his passing May 28th, 2023. In addition to her husband and parents, Nannie was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Wayne Austin, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Nannie enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting, and caring for her family as a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Austin (Debbie) and William “Billy” Matthews, Jr (fiancé, Tina Snyder); 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 1:00PM to 2:00PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM in the funeral home Chapel with Chaplain Rick Charles officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, Kernersville.
Those that desire may make memorial contributions to Hospice Home of High Point, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC.
