All-States Cremation - Centennial
Jon Michael Flint
1946 - 2025
On August 23, 2025, we said goodbye to our dad and grandpa, Jon Michael Flint - “Mike” to those who knew him in his early years, and always “Dad” or “Papa” to us. He was 78 years old.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 11, 1946, to William and Mary Flint, Jon grew up surrounded by family and mischief. He later moved to the California Bay Area, where he raised his two daughters, and eventually settled in Carmichael, California, before making his final move to Colorado in 2015 to be closer to his daughters and granddaughters.
Jon served proudly in the U.S. Marines, completing two tours in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked as an electronics engineer, but what truly defined him was the way he lived outside of work - with loyalty, humor, and a love of adventure. He was part of the Los Chinos motorcycle club - they named themselves, tongue in cheek after Lee Marvin’s role as “Chino” in the movie The Wild Ones - traveling the highways of the U.S. and Canada with his biker buddies, collecting stories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.
He was a friend you could always count on - someone who would show up, give everything he had, and never hesitate to help. Many of his friends described him as the best and longest friend they’d ever had. He was also the king of dad jokes, and you couldn’t ask him what he was up to without hearing, “About 5 foot 6.” If you reminded him to drive safely, you’d get the quick reply, “Nothing over 90!”
To us, he was an absolute teddy bear - stubborn or fiercely independent, depending on whether we were frustrated or in admiration of him - and always full of love. He adored our dogs, Reese and Emily, and would proudly walk them around The Ponds every day when they stayed with him.
In the last years of his life, when he lost his sight, he relied deeply on the kindness of Cultivate’s VetsGo program, which provided rides to his VA appointments. Those drivers became more than volunteers - they became his friends. In gratitude, our family asks that donations be made in his honor to Cultivate’s VetsGo program.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Ren Flint and Carol Taylor. He leaves behind his daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Matt Sassali, and Renee and Russell Schoenbeck; his granddaughters, Bella Sassali and Riley Schoenbeck; and many dear friends who became family along the way.
We will honor him with a Military Honors Memorial Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery on his birthday, September 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
More than anything, Dad wanted us to know how much he loved us. He often ended his texts with, “My love is always with you.” And it always will be.
