William "Bill" John Grzeskowiak
December 16th, 1953 - August 14th, 2025
William “Bill” John Grzeskowiak, age 71 of San Tan Valley, Arizona passed away on Thursday, August 14th, 2025 after a 2 year fight with bladder cancer. He was the first born to the late Francis “Frank” and Bernadine “Bernie” Grzeskowiak on December 16, 1953.
The term Dad Jokes originated from Bill; he loved his corny one liners that sometimes would err on the side of crude to get a chuckle or deadpan response. He excelled at taking a giant bite of steaming hot food, only to be shocked and offended when it would scald the inside of his mouth. He loved playing games with family and friends. Everything had its place with Bill, a method learned and meticulously perfected over time from his upbringing as a “military brat” and 30 years of dutiful service to the United Stated Marine Corps; everything was organized with precision. One of his life goals was to be a posse member with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department. He fulfilled that goal for 2 years with pride. He was a fighter until the very end. He was a resident of several cities throughout the world. He shared his friendship and love with many and maintained deep relationships. Double thumbs up! Some of his last words to Pat, were, “See you on the other side!”
He will be sorely missed and survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Grzeskowiak of Arizona; two daughters Charlene “Charlee” Mattingly (Will) of Kentucky, and Chelsea Fowler (Patrick) of Kentucky; three stepchildren Eric Croft (Molly) of Washington, Travis Croft (Stephanie) of Arizona, and Rebecca “Becka” Baumgartner (Devon) of Minnesota; three siblings Jim Grzeskowiak of Arizona, Tracy Grzeskowiak (Helen) of Colorado, and Mary Snow (Jeff) of Colorado; eleven grandchildren, Liam and Jolene Mattingly, Julia and Elliott Fowler, Azzy, Tessa and Eliza Croft, Cameron and Raelyn Croft, Gavin and Ryder Baumgartner.
There will be a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service in Arizona in the near future. There will also be something at the Outer Banks, NC in the summer of 2026. Time and place for both, to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society nmcrs.org
