In Loving Memory

Robert Lee Corley Sr., 93, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Born on January 17, 1932, in Leesville, SC, Robert was the son of the late George Lee and Lutecia Gunter Corley. He spent his early years in Lexington County, growing up alongside his mother and siblings. He later answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly fought in the Korean War.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Louise E. Yarborough Corley, and by his siblings: Woodrow, Odell, JC, Pete, Milledge, Gwendolyn, Magdalen, Austin, Leo, and Emma.

A man of unwavering faith, Robert was a devoted Christian. He and his wife, Gertrude, were faithful attendees of Sunday worship, always side by side in their devotion.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gertrude Paul Corley; his daughter LeAnn C. Meetze (Andy); son Robert L. Corley Jr.; and stepdaughters Shirley Bigony, Marion Miller (Reggie), and Linda LaTorre (John). Robert also leaves behind his grandchildren—Heather, Tiffany, Keith, Stephanie, and Melanie—and a host of great-grandchildren who lovingly called him “Papa” or “Pop-Pop.”

Robert will be fondly remembered for his steadfast faith, his generous spirit, and his love of gardening. He found joy in cultivating the land and sharing its bounty, always believing that his blessings were meant to be passed on to others.

His legacy of love, service, and faith continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Augusta Blvd, Lexington, SC, beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 3:00 PM on Thursday August 26, 2025.
