Robert L. Bittle, born on October 29, 1954, in Texas, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in Byron, Georgia. He was a devoted family man and a proud veteran, whose life was characterized by loyalty, dedication, and love for his family. A visitation is planned for Saturday, August 30, 2025 between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.  Robert will be laid to rest at Cairo Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, Mississippi.

 

Robert served his country honorably as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, where he exemplified the values of service, integrity, and commitment. His military career not only shaped him as a leader but also instilled in him a deep sense of duty and responsibility, traits that would influence his life long after his service.

Known for his loyalty, Robert touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His warmth and steadfast nature made him a pillar of strength within his family and community. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and cherished moments spent with loved ones.

 

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lawrence and Helen Bittle, as well as his cherished grandchild, Brittany Smythe, and great-grandchild, Deavan Bradley. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through his children: Sabrina Petersen (James), Robert Bittle, II, Terry Bittle, and Brandon Hicks. His family was his pride and joy, and he was a doting grandfather to nine grandchildren: Sierra Lovette-Allen (Tommy), Briana Champagne (Trevor), Alyssa Gonzalez (Frank), Amanda Nunnemaker (Kyle), Jayme Petersen, Annabelle Petersen, Katie Bradley (John),  and five great-grandchildren: Brittany, Elias, Amaris, Natalie, Laken, who will forever remember him for his unwavering support and guidance.

 

As we remember Robert, we honor not only his military service but also the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold your loved ones close and create lasting memories in honor of Robert's legacy of love and loyalty.
