April 7, 1932 -August 26, 2025
Joanne Knauss of Hilton Head Island, SC, 93, beloved wife, sister, and mother, passed away suddenly on August 26 at home.
She leaves her husband, Charles Knauss; two sisters, Denise Maher Dunne of Spencertown, NY, and Jennifer Maher of Durham, NC, and one brother, Peter Maher, of North Falmouth, MA. One brother, F. Barry Maher, and two grandsons predeceased her. Joanne also leaves six children and four stepchildren, nine grandchildren and three step• grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Her life was distinguished by her devotion to her family and many friends, her charitable support of her community, and her belief in the value of education.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the TidePointe Community Education Fund to support a scholarship program for qualified employees or their dependents. Checks should be made payable to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, noting TidePointe Community Charitable Fund in the memo line, and mailed to:
