Janice Lee Butler
August 3rd, 1948 - August 22nd, 2025
Live, Laugh, Love.
Janice Lee Butler, 77, of Osprey, Florida and formerly of Lawrence and Brownsburg, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2025. She was born on August 3, 1948 in Frankfort, Indiana. Her parents were Charles and Trella (Hailman) Myers; she had no siblings. She married the love of her life, Richard Butler, on July 10, 1966 in Lawrence, Indiana. Richard preceded her in death in 2021.
Jan was born in Frankfort, Indiana and her family later moved to Lawrence where she graduated from Lawrence Central high school in 1966. After graduation, she worked as a beautician before she and Richard became parents in 1977 to their only child, Kimberly. After moving to Brownsburg, Indiana, Jan later worked as a teacher and library aide at Harris Elementary. Jan and Richard lived in Brownsburg until retiring in Osprey, Florida in 1999.
She loved dancing with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. A few of her many hobbies included collecting thimbles, sewing, gardening and spoiling her miniature dachshund, Cooper and her grand-dogs, Pete and Carmen. Her favorite memories include Richard’s proposal at Knobby’s drive-in in Indianapolis and Kim’s graduation from Brownsburg High School. Her favorite place was the North Jetty on Nokomis Beach. Jan was an active member of Church of the Holy Spirit in Osprey, Florida.
Jan was kind, generous and loved taking care of others. She is missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her, but none more than Kim who is so very proud to be her daughter. She is survived by Kim and her son-in-law Tim McDonald.
