Barbara Gallegos

Beloved Barbara “Momma” Gallegos passed away peacefully at her home in Peralta, New Mexico, on August 19, 2025, after a long battle with dementia and the effects of aging, with her family by her side.

Barbara was born on August 15, 1931, in Brawley California. As a young woman in the 1940s, she went straight to work, as finishing high school was considered a luxury at that time. Later in life, she proudly earned her High School diploma, a milestone that always filled her with pride.

On January 2, 1955, Barbara married her beloved husband, Pete, and together they raised three daughters to be strong and independent women who built beautiful families of their own. She was endlessly proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing each one of them deeply.

Barbara created a safe and loving home where everyone felt welcome, teaching her children the true meaning of love, care, and family. She was adored not only by her family but by all who knew her. With her warm and open spirit, Barbara could strike up a conversation with anyone, often turning strangers into friends. She found joy in gardening, crocheting, and spending treasured time with her loved ones.

Barbara is survived by her children, Linda Perez and her husband Ron Perez, Jackie Rosales and her partner Bob Muniz; her grandchildren, Jesse and his Fiancé Renee, Joey and his wife Lexi, Jade, Dennis Jr., and Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ayame, and Emberlynn. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Gallegos, and her daughter Michelle Gallegos.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held with her family at a later date.

The family asks for prayers and loving remembrance of Barbara, especially in the moments when her absence is most deeply felt.
