Thomas "Tom" Edward Zak

Thomas “Tom” Edward Zak, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 24, 2025. He was 70 years old.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 30, 1954, to Richard and Joan Zak, Tom grew up with a love of family, football and the great outdoors. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1972, where he proudly played on the football team.

In 1976, while visiting family in Arizona, fate intervened when he met the love of his life, Dianne, at Mr. Lucky’s. Their connection was instant, and they married in 1980. Over the next 45 years, they built a beautiful life together, raising three children Shannon, Tony, and Kristen, whom Tom cherished deeply.

A hard-working and entrepreneurial spirit, Tom owned and operated Advanced Windshield Repair for over 30 years, retiring in January 2025. Outside of work, he was most at peace in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was especially passionate about deer and elk hunting. Tom had a natural gift for conversation, always ready with a story, a joke, or a listening ear. Family gatherings, filled with laughter and shared memories, were among his greatest joys.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Joan Zak, his brother-in-law, Ray Sifuentes, and his son-in-law, Gary Drottar.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne Zak, his children: Shannon Drottar, Tony Zak, and Kristen Richards (John), and his grandchildren: Gary Drottar, Melissa Drottar (Levi Nelson), Oliver Zak, and Johnny Richards. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Nicolae and Scarlett Drottar. Tom leaves behind his brother, Bill Zak (Sally) sister, Debi Sifuentes, brother-in-law, Ray Policky, nephew, Brett Zak (Gena), niece, Jaime Bridges (Mike)  as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever hold his memory close.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at a later date.
