Nancy Solomon Patterson

Nancy Solomon Patterson of Newell, NC, a native Charlottean, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 93.  She was predeceased by her father, Lucas James Solomon, and her mother, Ida Linker Solomon, along with five brothers, Lucas James Solomon, Jr. (Amelia), Ardrey Anderson Solomon (Margaret), Morris DeWhitt Solomon, Howard Allen Solomon, and Louie Mason Solomon (Jeannie), her sister Acree Armstrong (Bill), and her husband of 65 years, James Hall Patterson.

After graduating from Harding High School in 1950, she went to work for Ralston Purina Company where she remained until retiring in 1992.

Nancy was a long-time member of First A.R. Presbyterian Church and Back Creek A.R. Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  She was an active member of her Circle and participated in senior events.

 Her and her husband, Jim, loved camping.  They traveled with the Airstream Club and the Mecklenbugs.  She enjoyed playing cards and games with her friends and family.  Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye!

Nancy is survived by her one daughter, Brenda Brunson (Jim); three grandsons, Jamie Brunson (Soojin); Allen Brunson (Jamie); and Kevin Brunson (Kristin); and ten great grandchildren, James Brunson, Ashley Pierce (Jude), Reagan Brunson, Owen Brunson, Tim Brunson, Caleb Brunson, Macie Brunson, Quinn Brunson, Nora Brunson and Tyler Brunson.  Her sister-in-law, Marilyn Faulk of Charlotte and her brother-in-law, Alec McGill of Atlanta.

The family will be served by Tribute and Tallent Funeral Service. Visitation will be held at Back Creek A.R.P. Church, 1821 Back Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025 with a celebration service to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Matt Carr presiding. Thereafter will be a graveside service. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brookdale Weddington Park, 2404 Plantation Center Dr., Matthews, NC  28105.   The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to some special people at Brookdale who befriended and compassionately cared for Nancy during the last two years. They were the “hands and feet” of Christ, as were the members of her extraordinary Hospice team.
