Lenora Jean Jones, 88, of Venice, Florida, passed away on August 27, 2025.
Born December 11, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN, Lenora was the daughter of Delmar and Devota (Scott) Ditzenberger. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School then went on to Indiana University, earning a degree in Education. Lenora worked as an elementary teacher for the Goshen, IN public school system.
Lenora married Larry Lewis Jones (1936-2010) on June 14, 1957. Larry and Lenora lived many happy years in Goshen and Syracuse, IN before moving to Florida in 2006. An avid sports fan, Lenora continued to follow IU basketball as well as professional tennis and the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.
Remaining to cherish Lenora’s memory are children, Lisa (Rich) Hubartt, Logan (Cindy) Jones, and Laura Griffin; grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Hubartt, Colin Hubartt, Hannah Jones, Paul Griffin, and Benjamin Griffin. Lenora has six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a memorial service the family asks that you honor Lenora in your own way. Donations can be made in her memory to the Sarasota County Public Library (www.sarasotacountylibraries.org/i-want-to/get-involved/donate) or the Tidewell Foundation (www.tidewellfoundation.org). A celebration of Lenora’s life will be held at a later date.
