Tina (Carol) Volonino, born Carol Marie Snyder on June 7, 1954, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in her Largo, Florida home. Forever known as Tina by those who loved her, she was born and raised in Michigan and set out for a fresh start in Florida in 2000 where she met her husband Sandy. She embarked on the drive and journey accompanied by her only child, Jason Michael Leach and her soon to be daughter-in-law Carrie Leach (married 2005). The journey was filled with wonderful memories and the promise of new beginnings, an adventure that marked the start of many treasured, beloved, and lifelong friendships and her finding the love of her life, Alexander Sandy Volonino, in her new and forever Florida home.

In a touching full circle, Jason and Carrie drove Tina’s most cherished belongings and her ashes back to Michigan, bringing her home with the same love and care that first took her to Florida. They also brought with them the ashes of her beloved husband Sandy, cherished kitties (including Stella most recently), and their dear little Scruffy, so that they all could be scattered together in a special place Tina had chosen and shared with Jason as her final wish.

Tina was the cherished daughter of Barbara June (Brown) and Stuart Walter Snyder. She is survived by her beloved son Jason and daughter-in-law Carrie, as well as her sisters Marsha (the late Michael Swartz) Snyder, Gayle (the late Jim) Ambrose, and Jill Snyder; her sister-in-law Debby Snyder (wife of the late Gary Snyder); her nieces Jenni (Adam) Renshaw, Angela (Mark) Maurin, and Alyssa (Zach) McClow; nephews Stuart (Erin) Snyder and Jeremy Snyder; great niece Chelsea, and great nephews Wyatt, Xavier, Grant, and Adam. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sandy, and her brothers, Stuart and Gary Snyder. Tina is also lovingly remembered by her son’s closest friend Phil McDiarmid, who was like a son to her. Her closest friend Mary Ellen was also a steady and important source of support for her.

Tina had a profound love for her family, friends, and her kitties, especially Morty and Estelle, whom she lovingly left behind. She cherished close

companionship, creating lifelong bonds with friends both in Michigan and Florida.

Tina brought warmth and compassion wherever she went, remembered for her kind spirit, loyal friendship, and the comfort she offered to all who knew her. Sometimes called “Tuna”, she loved laughing, basking in the sun by the ocean, and spending as much time on the beach as she could. She also loved cooking, always preparing generous portions so she could share with neighbors, friends, and even passersby who stopped to chat while she sat on the front porch of her beach house.

Her vibrant presence, generosity, and joy for life will remain a cherished memory in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Whenever Tina is remembered, imagery of pink flamingos will inevitably come to mind.

A celebration of Tina’s life will be held at a future date.
