Rebecca "Becky" Ann Beeson
June 21st, 1958 - August 28th, 2025
Rebecca Ann Portillo-Beeson age 67 of Tucson, AZ. On August 28, 2025 our dearly beloved friend went to be with the Lord. Rebecca (Becky) was born in 1958 to Michael and Lola Portillo, deceased. Becky graduated from Mayfield High School in 19XX and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Public Health from the University of San Francisco. Her passion for public health was a major theme throughout her life with service as a nurse and healthcare manager to a number of public health facilities across the southwestern United States including Pima County (AZ) Health Department, Jemez Pueblo (NM), Navajo Indian Reservation in Tuba City (AZ), Alamo Navajo Indian Reservation (NM), and New Mexico State Health Department (Taos). Becky worked for a number of hospitals in Albuquerque, Redding, CA, and Tucson, AZ. In 2011 and 2012 Rebecca served the health care needs of contract employees at Kandahar Airfield (Afghanistan). She was also a passionate volunteer with the American Red Cross and notably participated in the organization’s response mission at Ground Zero in New York City following the events of September 11, 2001. Becky was a great cook and especially for friends and family. Her Paella was a favorite, inspired by her youthful travels through Spain and Portugal. She was preceded in death by her brother Mike in 2023 of Hawaii. Becky leaves behind Jack the dog, now readopted by Lee and Lori in Alamogordo. She is survived by her former husband Scott Beeson (Taos) and a wide circle of cherished friends across Alaska, New Mexico, Arizona, and Massachusetts.
