Adorita "Dori" Olis Hutchings

Adorita “Dori” Olis Hutchings, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 79. She was known for her sweet, kind, and loving nature, her deep faith, and her generous spirit, always extending a helping hand to those in need.

Born on February 10, 1946, in Catanduanes, Philippines, to Simon Olis and Lourdes Manlangit, Dori’s life was a testament to her incredible work ethic. After immigrating to the United States, she moved to Idaho in 1976 when her husband, Thomas, was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. During her early years in Idaho, she did seasonal farm work until becoming a U.S. citizen on March 5, 1985. She was also a dedicated employee at the base dining hall and, later in her career, worked for Micron in Boise.

On March 27, 1974, in Angeles City, Philippines, Dori married the love of her life, Thomas E. Hutchings, Sr. Together, they were affectionately known to their friends as “Dori and Hutch.” Their marriage was filled with laughter and adventures. Dori had a passion for cooking and loved preparing delicious Filipino food to share with family and friends. Bingo was also a big part of her life. Together, she and Thomas enjoyed fishing, camping, and road trips, and they cherished socializing with their many wonderful friends and acquaintances. Thomas passed away on July 14, 2007, and Dori carried his memory and his unwavering sense of duty and service to God, family, and country in her heart.

Dori’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Arturo, Marissa, Thomas Jr., Tyrone, and Simon. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren in the Philippines—Mark Anthony, MistyLen, MeLito Jr., Rist, and Kim—as well as to Eliana and Mateni Hutchings and Alexandra in the USA. All will forever remember her loving kindness. A devout Catholic, Dori was a constant presence at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church until she could no longer attend services for medical reasons. Her faith shone through in her actions and her unwavering support for others.

Dori is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hutchings, Sr.; her son, Arturo; her parents, Simon Olis and Lourdes Manlangit; and her siblings, Elena Olis and Simon Olis Jr. She is survived by her loving children, Marissa, Thomas Jr., Tyrone, and Simon; her cherished grandchildren, Mark Anthony, MistyLen, MeLito Jr., Rist, Kim, Eliana, Mateni, and Alexandra; her great-grandson, Syxtus; and her siblings, Ulpiano Olis, Shirley Prieto, Asela Alcantara, Noemi Calaguas, and Maria Salazar. She will also be deeply missed by a large circle of cherished friends. Her legacy of loving kindness and selfless service will be cherished by all who knew her.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice in Elmore County for their wonderful, kind support. We also express our gratitude to Father Moisés Urzúa Torres for his spiritual guidance and for officiating the funeral service. A special thank you is extended to her son, Simon, for his selfless and loving care as her primary caregiver; to Dr. Thomas Pintar for his compassionate care, which helped her maintain a good quality of life in her final years; and to Bonnie Bergeson at DaVita Kidney Care for her dedicated care and support.

Services will be held at Rost Funeral Home, 500 N 18th E, Mountain Home, ID 83647.
