The Island Funeral Home & Crematory
Judith Miller Neeley
November 10th, 1936 - September 1st, 2025
Our beloved Judy passed from this earthly home to her heavenly home on September 1, 2025. Judy was born in Joanna, SC to Carrie Cromer Miller and Roy Mayer Miller. She grew up in Greenwood, SC and was a 1954 graduate of Greenwood High School where she was a majorette and won the title of Miss Greenwood South. She married Richard D. Neeley on June 10, 1954, and they later moved to the Columbia area where they raised their four children.
Judy was a homemaker, fabulous cook, talented seamstress, garden enthusiast, pianist and professional baker. In 2011 she relocated to Sun City – Hilton Head, where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed many trips to ‘the beach’ and loved living life in the beautiful South Carolina low country. Easily the highlight of her work life, Judy was a professional baker for her son Vic’s Plantation Café in Hilton Head where she was lovingly called ‘Miss Judy’. Miss Judy’s cakes, pies and other sweet delights were well known by locals throughout the area. Tourists often requested her to ship her famous cakes to them once they traveled home. During these very happy years Judy enjoyed traveling abroad with her son Vic and his wife Tonya. Of all the lovely countries they visited, Ireland stole her heart forever.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, husband of 54 years, and her brother Nigel Miller.
She is survived by her children Vic Neeley (Tonya), Valerie McGiboney (Steve), Mike Neeley and Mark Neeley (Sheri). She was affectionately known as MiMom to her beloved grandchildren. Seven Grandchildren, Darrell Neeley (Meredith), William ‘Beau’ Neeley (fiancé Samantha), David Tarbush, Jr. (Michelle), Jaimie Alexander, Brady Tarbush (Kristin), Michael Neeley, Jr. (Amber), Lindsay Neeley Luttrell (Austin). Ten Great Grandchildren, Ford and Daphne Neeley; Evy and Elliott Tarbush; Banks, Ellison and Riggs Neeley; Eva, Anna Jo and Winnie Luttrell.
Funeral Service and Internment will be held on Monday, September 8th at Chapin Christian Community Church, Fusion Center, 415 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, South Carolina 29036. Visitation will be held at 1PM and the Celebration of Life Service at 2PM, both in the Fusion Center. Please feel free to wear your favorite, happy colors in honor of Miss Judy.
