Ethel Beckes (Williams), November 20, 1927 – August 21, 2025
Ethel Beckes, 97, of Pine Grove, CA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
She was born in Pottsville, Arkansas, on November 20, 1927, to William Fieldon "Jonah" Williams and Rhoda Rebecca Williams, and was one of 11 children. Ethel came to Amador County in 1975 and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in convalescent homes for over 40 years.
Ethel loved people and had a passion for the Lord. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She was lovingly cared for in the last years of her life at home with her son John and his wife Mary.
Ethel had 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 of her children: Timothy Thompson, Karen Mucci, and Jesse Thompson. She is survived by her children, David Thompson, Charlotte Bridges, John Thompson, and Judy Combs (Fine), as well as many, many grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by them all.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on September 28, 2025, at the home of her daughter Judy. If you would like to attend, please reach out to the family for more details.
