Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Gordon Martin
May 29th, 1939 - September 1st, 2025
Gordon Russell Martin, Sr., age 86, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Gordon was born on May 25, 1939, in Susanville, CA, to James and Irene Martin. He grew up in the Missouri countryside, the fifth of eight children: James, Jr., Marylynn, Jerome, Richard, Lonnie, John, and Robert, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of cars. After graduating from High School, Gordon did a brief stint in the U.S. Air Force before marrying the love of his life, Betty Sue (Adams), in 1957.
They were married for 68 years and raised four sons together. Gordon had a “can-do” attitude and was nearly impossible to discourage. He never attended college but started businesses, pioneered churches, and tried his hand at farming, real estate, and inn-keeping, and was skilled in various trades. He was an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God.
He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and never had any problem telling people about Him, no matter who they were or what they did.
Gordon was an active member of Christian Faith Center – Nampa and was the pastor for the seniors for several years. Folks will remember him for his sense of humor, unwavering faith, and generous and compassionate heart.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; his children, Gordon (Cindy) Martin of Middleton, daughter-in-law Barb (Ric) Martin of Selma, IN, Steve (Elizabeth) Martin of Weiser, and Shawn (Zarah) Martin of Nampa; and nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ric, and his granddaughter, Rachel.
A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Monday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Faith Center in Nampa, with Pastor Jordan Hodges officiating. A private graveside service will be held for family only.
The Martin Family would like to voice their appreciation to the staff and physicians of West Valley Medical Center for their compassionate care and are grateful for the ministry of the pastoral staff of Christian Faith Center – Nampa.
