Garnie E. Boyd, 84, of Church Hill went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 following a brief illness. He was born in Church Hill to the late Joe and Sally Boyd. Garnie attended Church Hill High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army as door gunner. He served in the 25th infantry and was attached to the Tropic Lightning Company. Garnie retired from Holliston Mills following 38 years of service. He was a loving father, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, G.T. and Larry Boyd; sisters, Bobbye Jo Salley, Helen Shelton, and Juanita Meece.

 

Survivors include his son, Billy Boyd and wife Janet; step grandson, Matthew Fletcher; step- great granddaughter, Iris Leftwich; sister, Johnnie Ireson; special niece, Tina Evans; along with a host of friends and extended family.

 

The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Keith Smith officiating.

 

A military entombment service will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens with the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the Honors. Pallbearers will be Kingsport City Police officers.
