Gloria Fay Jenks

Gloria Fay (Jarvie) Jenks passed from our lives on Aug 30, 2025.  She was born to John S. and Jenny Jarvie on June 8,1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married the love of her life, Mirl Dewayne Jenks.

Together she and Mirl created an amazing legacy of 236 descendants plus their spouses, (which Fay loved as much if not more than her own). They had 12 children, Randy (Wanda), Neale (Gloria), Karen (Cole), Carey, Lucy (Clarence), Dale (Mary Kaye), ReNae (Kevin), Dawn (Craig), Gloria (Mark), Ricky, Brent, and Cathy (Mark), 58 grandchildren, 134 great grandchildren, and 32 great-great grandchildren.  

Preceding her in death was Mirl (husband) at age 64, Cole (son-in-law), Randy (Son), 3 grandchildren (Rachael, Travis, Gabe), 6 great grandchildren (Skylar, Carter, Ella Ann, McKenzie, Vanessa, and Katie Ann). Fay’s parents John and Jenny Jarvie, Her brothers and their spouses; Ronald (Mary), Jack (Wanda), Scott (Kathy), Thearn (Danny).   

As a child, she helped her dad clean and gather eggs.  She spent a lot of time with him working in his taxidermy shop, where he taught her how to make bodies for pheasants, ducks and other birds, she enjoyed working in the garden, riding horses, helping with the care of their bees, and camping at Vernal Creek. She loved spending time with her dad. She said he was the sun, the moon and the stars to her.

While in her youth she loved her kittens, ice skating, and going to the fair.  She attended grade school in Draper Utah and high school in Jordan Valley Utah.  While there she played baseball, volleyball, the clarinet, and was in many plays.

Fay has spread love throughout the world, by serving 2 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, one (with Mirl) in Armenia and the other (as a single woman) in Texas.

Fay also spread her love through her talents: candy making, quilting, sewing clothes stuffed animals, and dolls, giving them away to others.  She also (with Mirl) managed Smiley Creek Lodge, in Sawtooth Valley, and worked as a cook, where she was known for her pies and milkshakes.

Some of her favorite past times were spent listening to her dad play the electric guitar, listening to records, singing and dancing while doing her housework, playing games with her children, and watching tv (Shrek and Night Ryder, Dark Shadow and Mash series.   Her favorite thing to do was to dress up on Halloween and play pranks on people.. 

Fay had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and wishes to leave it with everyone.

She said, “The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me the most peace.  I know the Savior lives and that I am a child of God.  I will return home and be with Him once again.  I think these things are so important in our lives.  The gospel keeps me happy.  Pray and pray always and listen and follow your heart; the Lord will bless you.  The biggest lesson I have learned in life is to not carry the garbage of life around with you.  If somebody hurts your feelings or something like that, drop it and forget it.  It is not worth holding onto.  It’s not worth a grudge.  Be forgiving, be honest, be true.”

 We would like to thank Mark, Cathy, Dale and Mary Kaye, for their many hours of loving care.

Fay will be laid to rest in Hagerman, Idaho on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.  The Funeral will be on Sept. 5, at 11:00 A.M., 790 S Haskett St., Mountain Home, ID. Viewing will be Thurs. Sept 4, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and 10:00 A.M. Friday Sept 5, at the same address.
