Edward Delaune McMillan, Jr.

Edward Delaune McMillan Jr. (77) of Fort Lupton, Colorado passed away peacefully at home in his sleep due to a suspected cardiac event on August 22, 2025.  The second of six children, he was born on April 18, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Edward McMillan Sr. and Ruth Falcon McMillan.  He was affectionately known to his family and many friends as Mackey, Mac, Dad, and Paw Paw. 

Mac was an army veteran and a welder by trade whose skills took him to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Venezuela where he worked in the oil and alumina industries.  Later, he co-owned Miles Auto Parts in Fort Lupton and then worked raising and racing greyhounds until his retirement.

 

He was previously married to Sheryl Forbes with whom he has two children, Tre and Devon.

 

Mac later married Tracey Reynolds and raised her daughter, Tani, as his own along with their son, Trenton.

 

While family and work were a huge part of his life, the details and idiosyncrasies are what gave Mac his unique sparkle.

Mac’s sense of fashion was consistent throughout the years, Levi jeans, a button-up flannel or western style shirt which had to have a pocket to accommodate his Schwisher Sweets and a pen. 

Mac always had facial hair - early on, a trademark moustache and later, a neatly groomed beard. Many of his family never knew what he looked like without facial hair.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter who, on occasion, would display his mounts as “home decor" much to his wife, Tracey’s, dismay.  

Known for his good cookin’ and ability to carve a turkey, his specialty meals include fish fry, gumbo, jambalaya, spaghetti, pork chops with creamed corn and Spanish rice, and biscuits and gravy.

Mac could fix anything.  He was creatively and skillfully mechanical. He loved working on 3-wheelers and Jeeps back in the 80’s and even agreed to repair them for a six pack of beer. 

He loved country music, especially from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s and was known to sing along in his deep baritone voice.  

He had a green thumb and enjoyed growing tomatoes, bell peppers, okra, peanuts, and rhubarb.

Mac loved going to his house in Glendo, Wyoming where he would take the speed boat to the lake for tubing, water skiing, and, of course, fishing.

He loved snow skiing, playing golf, drinking ice-cold Coors Lite, and watching classic westerns on TV.

Mac loved going “up the hill" to gamble in Black Hawk and Central City, cheering for the Denver Broncos, and, of course, the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.

He was the life of the party dropping into the splits while on the dance floor, naming that move “the alligator.” 

Mac was an avid reader, reading everything from Harry Potter to old westerns to mysteries and suspenseful thrillers.

In his later years, he was a creature of habit, never veering far outside of his routine of rising early for his cup of coffee and the news before heading to the rec center where he would exercise and sit in the hot tub.   

Mac’s home away from home was American Legion Post 102 in Fort Lupton where he was an active member and supported the Legion’s public service endeavors.

 

The love for his family remained strong, despite his deteriorating health. 

 

He is preceded in death by his brother Kirk, his father, Edward McMillan, his mother, Ruth Falcon McMillan, and son, Edward “Tre” McMillan III.

 

He is survived by and continues to be loved by his wife Tracey, daughters Devon Foster (Gene Foster) and Tani Reynolds Calvert (Joshua Calvert), son Trenton McMillan (Christine King), grandkids Drake, Kirk, Evan, Jordan, Trace, Gus & Hartley, and great-grandkids Wyatt, Tate, Lawson, Logan, Raylin, Stetson, and John Michael, sister Sheryle Bonin (Patrick), brothers Richard McMillan (Connie), Jeffery McMillan (Kerrie), and Todd McMillan, along with multiple nieces and nephews.
