Patricia Woodbury

Patricia Ann Woodbury (née Catanzaro), a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 28, 2025, in Oxford, Florida, at the age of 89. She was born on December 29, 1935, to Patrick and Essie Catanzaro, first-generation Americans from Sicily, Italy. Patricia graduated from Dormont High School before earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s from Boston University.

Her professional life was devoted to helping children as a nurse practitioner with a focus on early child development. Over the course of her career, she served in many locations, most notably as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota and authored numerous scientific articles and texts. A trailblazer in the fight for women’s rights in the workplace, Patricia was a passionate advocate for pay equity and equal opportunities.

In retirement, she spent 25 years in Florida, where she found joy in community, friendship, and volunteering. Always energetic and eager to embrace new challenges, she remained a lifelong learner and generous spirit who gave back to those around her.

Patricia is survived by her sons, Stuart and Scott; her brother, John; and her grandchildren, Miles, Ashley, and Cailey.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal service will be held. Her ashes will be scattered, and her family and friends will remember her for the life she lived and the many contributions she made to this world.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Trinity Springs Assisted Living Facility in Oxford, Florida, and to Vitas Hospice for their support and care over the past five years.
