In Loving Memory

Edith (Joanne) Rawls Famiano, 84, of Blythewood, South Carolina, passed away on August 30, 2025. She was born September 7, 1940 in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Joseph Allen Rawls and Vivian Redmond Rawls. She is preceded in death by her parents, (son) Richard Dale Helms, (brother) Gerald Calvin Rawls and her loving husband, (Tony) Anthony Famiano.

 

She loved to sew or crochet and traveling. She retired from a civil service job with the military where she was the secretary to several high ranking officers and received several awards for a job well done. She was a loving mother and wife and a friend to all that had the pleasure to meet her. She was married to the love of her life, Tony, for 44 years, who was retired Army. They lived all over the United States and after retirement traveled all over the world. We will miss her dearly, she was a wonderful woman who we were blessed to have as family or friend.

 

She is survived by her (sister) Jacqueline Doris Rawls, (brother) Allen Carroll Rawls, 11 Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Nieces and Nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11AM with a visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 1PM.
