Jimmy Carl Rhoton

Jimmy Carl Rhoton, 77 of Fall Branch went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was born on December 9, 1947 in Kingsport to Carl and Lola Rhoton. Jim served his country as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Century link after 41 years of service having worked for The United Telephone Company, Sprint, Embarq, and Century Link. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and gun enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling with friends, spending time with family, hunting, and working on genealogy. Jim was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans Scott County Clinch Mt. Rangers Camp 1858. He was a member of Christian Life Center, UPC in Kingsport, TN. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, papaw, son, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Rhoton; infant brother, Joseph Rhoton; stepfather, William McDuff; and son-in-law Adam McFarland.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Rhoton; daughters, April Collings and husband Matt, Misty McFarland, Rachel Wright and husband Steven; Tiffany Gasperson and husband Jacob; grandchildren, Alissa Kindle, Victoria Collins, Haylee McFarland, Gregory Wright, Isaac Gasperson, and Harper Gasperson; great-grandchildren, Beckham, Kehlani, and Hendon; mother, Lola McDuff; brothers, Roger Rhoton and wife Diana, Larry Rhoton and wife Marsha, and Jeff Rhoton and wife Donette; sisters, Carolyn Peters and husband Larry, and Cindy Roberts and husband Gary; step-sister, Magdelyn Zimmerman; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Holston View Cemetery with honors conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 and Pastor Jeremy Damesworth officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Life Center, UPC in Kingsport, TN.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their loving care.
