Monique M. Wadley, 58, passed away at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida, on September 3, 2025.

For the past 20 years, Monique served as a Codes Compliance Investigator for the City of St. Petersburg. This past May, she was recognized for her longstanding commitment to maintaining the beauty of this city that many close to her call home. Over the years, she had also served as a police officer, paralegal, esthetician, and, above all, a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her two sons, Andrew McClure and Kyle Wadley; seven grandchildren; beloved sister, Michelle Muffley; and her two chihuahuas, Vivianne and Veronica, who were always by her side. Monique was preceded in death by her mother, Ada, and her sister, Diana, who were as dear to her heart as any two people could be.

Monique deeply cherished her family and friends, yet she treated everyone she met with such genuine love and kindness that it often felt as though the whole world was her family. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her is familiar with her sweet disposition, beautiful smile, and amazing sense of humor. In addition to the people in her life, Monique had an admiration for art, music, nature, skincare, healthy living, and the companionship of her pups. Thoughtful and selfless, she always put the needs of others before her own.

Though her time with us was far too short, her love and light live on in those she touched — and we take comfort in knowing she is free of pain, watching over us until we meet again.
