Allen Dale Edwards

Allen Dale Edwards of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on August 30, 2025 at the age of 93.  He was born in Madison, Minnesota on June 8th, 1932, to Robert and Audrey Edwards, and had three sisters and one brother.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Lounett Edwards.

Family, gardening, painting, reading, shrimp, traveling, entertaining… just a few of many words that come to mind when describing Allen.

After graduating from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Allen developed a lifelong love of gardening and a green thumb that was unmatched.  He was also a talented painter, and an avid reader, known to enjoy hundreds of books on his cherished Nook. 

Allen began his career in the seafood industry, primarily focusing on shrimp.  From early management roles to consulting later in life, his work took him all over the world, often with Lounett by his side, setting up shrimp plants from the ground up.  He loved sharing the many fascinating stories from his travels.

Above all else, Allen was a family man and loved children.  He adopted three children and provided a home any child would wish for.  He never thought of them as adopted – they were his and that was all there was to it.  His children describe him as being their rock, and that he truly was.  He made it a priority to instill strong values and principles in them.  Allen was also a big kid at heart, and his endearing sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him.

He is survived by his three children, Teresa Cobb (Ray), Alex Edwards (Maira), and Chasity Vazquez (Will), a step-daughter, Cheryl Boles, 1 sister, Aline Long (Roger), 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on October 28, 2025 at 10am.  The address is 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513. We will meet at the entrance and be escorted to the columbarium for the inurnment.
