Ron was born in Chicago Illinois to Charles & Mildred Curin. He had one brother named Allen.

He grew up there in Chicago playing baseball and hockey, and taking family vacations to Wisconsin. Ron graduated from Faregate High School in 1952. He then served 2 years in the Army Artillery in Washington D.C. When his time was completed, he returned to Chicago, and started working for Illinois Bell Telephone. He met and married Diane Konecny in 1957. While in Chicago, they had two sons, Richard and Jim.

In 1963, they traveled to Oregon on vacation, and decided not to go back. Ron got a job at Molalla telephone, and Diane returned to Chicago with the boys to pack up and make the move.

After a few jobs, Ron settled into a career with Southern Pacific Railroad and during his 35 years there, worked his way up from an extra Lineman to Cable Splicer. During this time Ron and Diane had two more children, David, and a daughter Christine. With the promotion it meant moving from Colton, Oregon to the Elmira - Veneta area. In 1995, Ron remarried to Odella Snyder.

Ron was a volunteer fireman for more than 25 years, during that time he was also a big part of the neighborhood watch, and secretary of many bowling leagues, and associations.  He also was a charter member of the Molalla Moose, and volunteered at Colton School, Territorial Sports Program, Elmira High School Booster Club, and was on the Parish Council of both Saint James Catholic Church and St. Catherine's Catholic Church.

He enjoyed elk and deer hunting, bowling, hockey, baseball, football, John Wayne movies, WWII history, and root beer floats.

Ron is survived by 4 children; Richard, Jim, David and Chris. 6 grandchildren; Jake, Scott, Brian, Tim, Laura, and Jessica (though many more called him Grandpa). And 8 great-grandchildren; Norah, Aurora, Walter, Bella, Kreidynce, Monty, Norman, and Gloria.

Ron, Dad, grandpa, and great grandpa will be missed by us all.
