Joan Rebecca Delzangle

Joan Rebecca Delzangle (née Crawford), 92, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, following a 1 ½ year battle with cancer.

Born and raised on a farm outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joan was the cherished sister of four brothers—Ed, Audie, Elgie, and Bob. Her father, a coal miner and devoted union board member of the Western Pennsylvania Region, District 50 United Mine Workers of America, instilled in her a strong work ethic and deep commitment to family. After graduating high school, Joan pursued studies in stenography in Pittsburgh, laying the foundation for a career that would later support her growing family.

Joan met the love of her life, Roland Delzangle, at the wedding of her best friend, where she served as Maid of Honor and Roland as Best Man. Their connection was immediate, and shortly after the wedding, they eloped to Virginia. They honeymooned in New York City, beginning a lifelong journey filled with devotion and adventure.

Roland’s career in management took the family across several states, as he was known as a “trouble shooter” who resolved complex challenges in plant operations. Joan gracefully balanced raising their three children with part-time work as an executive secretary, always placing family at the heart of her life.

In 1993, Joan and Roland retired to Florida, where they enjoyed more than 25 years of well-earned rest and togetherness. Summers were filled with the laughter of visiting grandchildren, and holidays were spent traveling to their children’s homes, offering love, support, and helping hands. Their unwavering commitment to family ensured that their children were nurtured and prepared for success.

Joan and Roland will be laid to rest together at Belle Vernon Cemetery in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, alongside Roland’s parents and siblings at the family gravesite—a lasting testament to their enduring love and legacy.
