He was born on February 17, 1939 in Traverse City, Michigan to Louis Colonel Ransom and Marjorie A Brewer Ransom. He had one brother, Gregory Lee, who preceded him in death in 1997. After his high school graduation in 1957, he went west to California where he lived for about a year in San Bernardino, working with his uncle.

He then headed north, pulling a small camper trailer, and settling near Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. He bought a small cabin on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho. and worked at a local lumber mill. He loved his life there, working on his cabin, riding his horse into the mountains and spending time with friends. In 1961 he decided to join the Navy.

He was trained in Memphis, TN. in electronics and then sent to Norfolk, Va. where he was assigned as a Tradevman. In 1962 he met Catherine, and they were married in Norfolk on August 3, 1963. After his discharge from the Navy in 1965 they moved to Minnesota and then to Wisconsin, where they lived until another move to Washington state in 2014.

Clyde is remembered as a kind man who had a talent for many things. He built and remodeled several homes for his family. He had a knack for fixing and making things right again. He loved his family as his most precious gift and told his wife Catherine that she was the best thing that had ever happened to him. His faith was a constant comfort to him especially in these last years of illness. Clyde also took great comfort and pride in his family and many friends and he loved all children.

He will be buried with his wife on a future date in Montevideo, MN. at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
