Verda Leishman Morford, 89, formerly of Caldwell, passed away from natural causes at The Pointe in Meridian on Sept. 3, 2025. She was born on May 15, 1936 in Rolapp, Utah, to David and Stella Bradshaw. A few months after she was born the family moved to Wales, Utah. In 1946 her family moved to Bowmont and then to a farm in Melba where she loved helping her dad and riding the horses. She enjoyed doing readings for wedding receptions and other events. She was the Senior Class President for her graduating class at Melba High School in 1954. In the Spring of 1954, she met her first husband, Calvin Leishman at the Sweetheart Ball and they were married on Aug. 20 that year. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union five children were born, Colleen, Bart, Sheila, Joyce & Kevin. They moved around a bit for Calvin's jobs, going from Boise to Grand Junction, back to Boise and then Payette before settling in Caldwell in 1966. In 1967 she started a daycare in her home for 20 years and was "grandma" to several of those children. This allowed her to stay home with her own children, which she considered the most important vocation. In 1987 she started working for Call Jewelers in Karcher Mall and remained there for eight years. Verda and Calvin had 45 years together. They were able to travel to Mexico, Canada, the Oregon coast, St. George and Arizona with friends. She especially enjoyed being able to go on some of these trips with her sister Nadine and brother in law Keith, before Calvin passed away in 2000. The summer of 2003 she met Robert Morford and after a few months of dating, were married on Oct 11. She loved that he had a cows and horses and it took her back to her early childhood. They did some traveling as well and he always treated her like a queen. They enjoyed 17 wonderful years together before Bob's passing in 2020. Verda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was able to work in the Primary, Scouts, Relief Society and one of her favorite's was teaching seminary for four and a half years where she was able to teach many of her own grandchildren. Verda is survived by her five children, Colleen Leishman, Bart(Tamara), Sheila(Rick) Hartshorn, Joyce(Gregg) Simmons and Kevin(Kellee), 28 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, step daughter Pamela Roach and step daughter in law Jan Morford, their children and grandchildren.
