Joseph “Joe” E. Troppman, age 86, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Joe was born on September 2, 1938, in Munising, Michigan, the loving son of the late Joseph Troppman and Magdalene Troppman (Née Hoge). He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Boston (CAG-1), the Navy’s first guided missile cruiser, traveling the world during his service.

On August 20, 1960, Joe married Barbara Ann Hoge in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Professionally, Joe dedicated his career to public safety and engineering. He worked as a National Board code supervisor, field engineer, and inspector of pressure vessels, boilers, and machinery. He also served as the Chief Inspector of Public Safety for the State of Colorado.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Troppman (Née Hoge); his daughter, Debra Troppman; his son, Michael Troppman; his granddaughter, Terin Troppman Talerico. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Sauers (Troppman); niece, Sara Sauers; nephew, Todd Sauers; brothers-in-law, Jack Hoge and James Hoge; nephew, Nicholas Hoge; and sister-in-law, Beverly Fisher (Née Hoge).

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on:

Sunday, September 21, 2025

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The Cliff House, Morrison, Colorado

His wishes were for his ashes to be scattered at the grave site of his Mother and Father.

Joe will be remembered for his integrity, service, and devotion to family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and quiet wisdom that will live on in all who knew him.

If you would like to honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations to the Veterans Administration can be made in his name.
