Alice Dollie Mariani Pfeffer
Alice “Dollie” Pfeffer, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 27, 1930, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to the late Pasquale “Patsy” and Maria Mariani, and remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
Dollie graduated from Waukesha High School in 1948 and later enjoyed a long career working at Kaske’s Grocery Store and Super America. On February 18, 1982, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Pfeffer, and together they shared years filled with adventure, laughter, and cherished memories. She and Dick spent many wonderful years in Sun City, Arizona, where Dollie was active with the Early Bird Lions Club, a travel trailer club, and countless volunteer organizations. Dollie loved traveling in their RV, often bringing it up to Waukesha in the summers and parking it right next to her childhood home on Main Street. An avid card player, especially of Sheepshead, Dollie was known for her great sense of humor, quick wit, and her ever-present smile.
Dollie is survived by her loving children: Roz Kok, Patti (Mike) Okrongly, and Diane (John) Sallmann; grandchildren Haley Hutton, Polly (Lance) Looper, Emily Fell, Erin (Greg) Spencer, Angela (Kevin) Rosenberg, and Andrew Sallmann (Alex Moltzan); and great-grandchildren Sage, Carver, Harrison and Nico Julian, Trace Looper, Grace and Grant Fell, Amelia, Henry and Gloria Spencer, Huxley (“Huckley” – that’s how Big Nana said it) and Ellie Rosenberg, and Louella Sallmann. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Carol Mariani, many nieces and nephews, stepchildren Karen Perry and Ken Pfeffer, and countless friends who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dick; her parents; sisters Laura Wilson, Frances (Louis) Bucci, and Ann (Art) Tennessen; brother Carmel Mariani; son-in-law Glen Kok; niece Chris Schmidt; and great-granddaughter Katie Angel Fell.Dollie will be remembered fondly for her humor and outlook on life. She often described herself as “Fat and Sassy,” while her family lovingly raised a glass saying, “Here’s to Dollie—she’s got class.”
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Queen of Apostles Church (N35 W23360 Capitol Dr, Pewaukee, WI 53072). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
