James Hardy Giddens
March 8th, 1939 - September 9th, 2025
James Hardy Giddens, 86, of Davenport, FL, passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL. Hardy was born in Rhine, GA, on March 8, 1939, to WIlliam Themur and Manilla (Bowen) Giddens. As a child, his family moved to Davenport, FL, where he attended Polk County schools. He enjoyed playing football and graduated from Haines City High School in 1957. After graduation, he proudly served in the National Guard followed up by the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.
A hard-working man, Hardy dedicated nearly 45 years to his career as a master electrician before retiring. He later enjoyed running his own tractor business for 20 years. Skilled in many trades, he even built the family home where his wife still resides today.
Hardy was happiest outdoors and could often be found tinkering in his shop or riding his tractor. He loved camping with his family and close friends, who were like family, all of whom he cherished deeply. He was also a devoted Gators football fan. Active in church throughout his life, he lived out his strong faith with passion and conviction.
Hardy was preceded in death by his son, Craig Giddens; and his grandson, Travis Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Julia Gail Giddens; his daughter, Rhonda (Jarvis Dennis); his grandson, Cody Morgan (Nikki); his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Payton, Jericho, and Dante; his sister, Louise Sifford; his brother, Alvin Giddens (Mary); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. His final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL.
