Bertha Kay Desjarlais
February 13th, 1953 - September 9th, 2025
What doesn't kill us, will only make us stronger.
**Obituary for Bertha Kay Desjarlais** (02/13/1953 - 09/09/2025) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bertha Kay Desjarlais, née Aring, who departed this life on September 9, 2025, in Auburndale, Florida, at the age of 72. Born in Illinois, Bertha was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister whose kindness and consideration left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Bertha was a devoted mother to her daughters, Andrea Drazen and Kim Duke, and a treasured sister to her siblings, Robert and Donald Aring. She was also a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Alex Scheer, Caitlyn Drazen, Hannah Drazen, Zoey MacNeil, and Ashley MacNeil. In addition, Bertha delighted in being a great-grandmother to Cameron Scheer, who brought her boundless joy. Her family has always been her pride and joy, and she nurtured her loved ones with unwavering support and affection. A woman of determination, Bertha often quoted, "What doesn't kill us, will only make us stronger," reflecting her resilient spirit and her approach to life. She had a profound love for gardening and the outdoors, finding peace and pleasure in the beauty of nature. Her ability to cultivate not only flowers but also relationships made her a nurturing presence in the lives of her family and friends. As we celebrate Bertha’s remarkable life, we encourage all who knew her to share in this remembrance. A celebration of her life is currently being organized, and those details will be shared in the coming weeks. We anticipate holding this gathering in early October to allow for out-of-state relatives to join us. We invite you to reach out if you have any questions or would like to express your condolences to the family. Andrea, Bertha’s daughter, is available at 407-754-6681 for any inquiries. In memory of Bertha Kay Desjarlais, may we hold her spirit dear in our hearts, cherishing the love she spread and the lives she touched.
