In Loving Memory of Mrs. Regina Joy Madaus
Regina Joy "Jeanie" Madaus born January 28, 1933, in Herrington, KS to the late Walter and Lucille (Haas) Johnson passed away peacefully September 10, 2025, in Winter Haven, Fl.
Jeanie grew up in Abilene, Achison and Emporia all in Kansas and graduated in 1951 from Emporia High School. She attended Kansas University and graduated from Emporia Teachers College (now Emporia State College) with a degree in English and French education. June 5,1954, she married Dick Madaus. and together they raised four children.
Jeanie was a people person as soon as she met you, you were friends. She enjoyed her family gatherings, traveling, playing bridge, sailing, golf, her church and PEO. She was a Deacon, Elder, and unofficial greeter at Hope Presbyterian church welcoming newcomers. She was a member of PEO for 60 years, serving many offices during that time. After the children were raised she taught school for 10 years at the Auburndale Adult School, which gave her much joy helping older students get their GED.
Jeanie was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Jerry and daughter Stephanie and survivors are her husband Dick, children Cynthia Barnes, Rick (Karine) and Scott (Katie). Also, surviving is grandchildren Kristen Barnes, Stefani (Bobby) Allison, Sarah (Evan) Scott, Max (Tiffany) Blanchard, Molly (Bryan) Fragiacomo and Chris (Britni) Madaus and great grandchildren Levi, Gage and Madeline Scott, Carter and Berlynn Blanchard, AJ and Lily Allison, Fox, Ferris and Finn Fragiacomo.
A service will be held at Hope Presbyterian at 2 PM Saturday, September 27, 2025, with light refreshments following in McGrath Hall. The family would like to thank the people at Vitas for Jeanie's, care, especially Bella and Ruby. In I lieu of flowers please donate in her name to either Hope Presbyterian Church, 2110 Cypress Gardens Blvd, Winter Haven, FL 3388, or PEO Chapter DP, 2240 Avenue C SW Winter Haven, FL 33880, or a charity of your choice.
