James Marion Patton
January 28th, 1940 - September 7th, 2025
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
James Marion Patton, 85, died on September 7th, 2025, in Greeley, CO. He was born in Fort Morgan, CO on January 28, 1940, to Thomas and Blanche (Hendrickson) Patton of Roggen, CO. James was one of ten children. He attended the Kiowa School until the 8th grade and then worked on the family farm.
At the age of 22, James enlisted in the US Army where he served at a missile installation in Germany until September 1964. He continued to serve for three more years in the US Army Reserves out of Greeley where he was honorably discharged in 1967.
James married Victoria Erker in July 1967 and became the father of three children while working as a mechanic for John Deere in Keenesburg, CO. In 1974, he returned to farming, working on farms in Brush, Akron, and finally settling back in Roggen. In 1982, he left farming to become a long-haul truck driver. After his divorce, he moved to Madisonville, TX and married Beverly Reynolds in 1989. He retired from truck driving in 2016. Following Beverly’s death in 2019, he relocated to Greeley in 2022 to be closer to family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, his son Anthony, and three siblings, Carl Patton, Betty Burnett, and Dorothy Ley.
James is survived by two sons, Troy (Dawn) Patton of Briggsdale, CO and Michael (Nancy) Patton of Canby, OR; eight grandchildren, Christina (William) Sullivan, Michael Jr., Morgan (Jaydee) Johnston, Allan, Courtney, Wyatt (Addyson), Sarah and Joseph; two great grandchildren, Xander and Xavier Johnston; 6 siblings, Carol Rice, Toby Schwindt, Ruth Collins, Ike, Clyde and Roy; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment for James and Beverly will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton, CO.
