Alice Marie Hoffner
October 14th, 1930 - September 11th, 2025
Alice Marie Hoffner, 94 years of age, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at North Colorado Medical Center.
Alice was born at home October 14, 1930 at home near Bracewell, Colorado to Carl Schaefer and Mollie Schmidt Schaefer.
Alice attended elementary school in Windsor and later attended College High, now University Schools in Greeley. As a young girl she helped with chores gathering eggs and hoeing the garden. She enjoyed taking piano lessons and later played the piano at her sister, Esther’s wedding.
As a young adult, Alice worked at Cook’s Drug Store in Greeley. She met her first husband, Maurice Leffler at a church event. They were married June 25, 1950. They farmed northwest of Greeley. Alice enjoyed gardening and especially her zinnia’s. She helped with harvest and other duties on the farm where they grew sugar beets, barley, hay and pinto beans and also fed cattle. Maurice passed away December 7, 1978.
On January 30, 1981, Alice married James Hoffner and they moved from the farm to Greeley, Colorado. James passed away October 26, 2004.Alice was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church for over 70 years where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed word search’s, knitting and crocheting and was a big Rockies and Broncos fan.
She will be remembered for her winning personality and sense of humor.
Alice was preceded in death by two husbands, son-in-law Ed Flohr and grandson Ross Flohr. Her parents and siblings: Martha, Esther, Clara, Wilma, Edwin and Nancy and their spouses.
Alice is survived by her daughter Sharon Flohr, son Donn Leffer and wife Suzanne, granddaughter Lindsey Urbanec and husband Bryon. Great grandsons Connor, Eli and Jackson.Step children Rod Hoffner, Sue Lewis, Glen Hoffner and their families and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Square for their wonderful care for Alice.Memorial Service will be September 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado.
